Correlations Discovered Between Health Risks and Age, Income

We performed a dispersion analysis on different healthcare and income variables in the United States, including obesity, smoking and insufficient access to healthcare as a function of age, poverty rate and median household income by state.

A positive correlation can be observed in the poverty rate with respect to the three analyzed risk factors. States with higher poverty rates seem to also have higher obesity, smoking and insufficient healthcare rates. As expected, the correlation is negative when the same variables are plotted against median household income by state.

The correlations with the median age are not as clear. One preliminary observation is that smoking rate seems to be positively correlated to the median age of the analyzed states. Further regression analyses need to be performed to confirm or reject our initial observations.
